Dutch wooden shoe Christmas ornament

My son needed an ornament for a school project which told of his heritage so I grabbed a wooden shoe from a doll and filled it with little trinkets. In Holland, Sinterklaas (St. Nicholas) leaves cookies, fruits and toys in the children’s Klompen (wooden shoes) left by the fireplace. Although if you were bad, St. Nicholas’s companion Zwarte Pieten would reclaim your treasures and leave you a lump of coal!
